Car Insurance Volkswagen (Car Insurance). Would buying this car be a good decision?

Would buying this car be a good decision? The car is a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution viii with 171,000 miles on it. It is in almost perfect condition. Please explain why/why not buying the car would be a good decision

You also should compare car insurance quotes for cars before buying one, for example here - carinsurance.yoll.net it depends on at what cost you are buying, thats alot of miles for a 2003 i hope its a good price The mileage is very high and the cost of repair can be very expensive. On the plus side, if it has been taken good care of and all maintenance items handled and it is truly "in almost perfect condition" it could be a good buy for $3200. I would have a mechanic check it out before purchase to make sure there are no major problems. All older high mileage cars will have some minor items go wrong but you can handle them, its the big driveline problems that can break you. Read CR to find more reliable cars.

Volkswagen . Had all new brake job new timing belt new water pump done on 92 Nissan Maxima Gxe and car runs bad now?

Had all new brake job new timing belt new water pump done on 92 Nissan Maxima Gxe and car runs bad now? While driving home car made a sort of rattling noise on acceleration. Called shop and told them. They took it back and said that the timing was wrong, and supposedly, adjusted it. Got car back, noise still there, just quieter. Now, rattling noise is sometimes loud- sometimes not as loud. (coming from engine.. near timing belt). ALSO... now it feels like I am driving with the brake on when going above about 20 mph. I am not... don't use emergency brake ever. Car also idles very rough sometimes. What is going on with the car. It runs HORRIBLE ever since I took it to the shop to have all this work done. By the way, the timing belt was not broken when I took it there. Now, I took it back a third time and they still have it. They are telling me they don't feel any dragging when driving it.... I certainly did and I also smelled a burning smell. So, I know I have several issues here, but I am lost about what is going on. I am very disgusted with this shop. The people are nice, but it just doesn't seem like they know what they are doing! PLEASE HELP!!!! Oh... Brake job included all new pads, all new rotors, and new calipers on both rear wheels. They said they had to replace calipers b/c one was seized??? How could it have been driven if that was the case. Also- after third time in the shop, they are saying they put car on the lift and the new calipers do not appear to be seized- said wheels spin ok. What is my next step if they can't/ don't fix these problems. As I mentioned car ran fine before I took it to have all this work done. car insurance.

Volkswagen . How to Replace the Fuel Pump in a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix

The fuel pump in your 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix pushes gas from the gas tank into the engine block which in turn allows your car to start and run. If your fuel pump malfunctions, you may experience stalling as you drive and difficulty starting your car. If you are having either of these problems, you can check the fuel pump by turning your ignition forward into the accessory position. Listen to see if your fuel pump begins automatically cycling. If you don't hear anything when the ignition is in this position, you need to replace the fuel pump.
Difficulty:Moderately Challenging
Instructions Things You'll Need
Flathead screwdriver
Hammer
New fuel pump

Step by Step :
1
Open the trunk and lift the carpet up toward the seat.
2
Look under the carpet for the access panel cover that is screwed into the floor. Remove the screws that hold down the panel cover by twisting them counterclockwise with the flathead screwdriver until they come out. Set the screws and the panel cover aside.
3
Squeeze the ends of the plastic hose connectors together and pull the hoses out. Unplug the wiring harness.
4
Hammer the flathead screwdriver around the lock ring in a clockwise motion to loosen it. Then pull the lock ring straight out.
5
Push the new pump down manually and put the lock ring back into its original position. Click the hoses back into place.

Volkswagen . 1993 Isuzu Rodeo Fuel Pump Location

The fuel pump in a1993 Isuzu Rodeo pushes, rather than fulls, fuel to the engine. Therefore, when trying to locate the fuel pump, focus on the rear of the vehicle. If you suspect a defective fuel pump, look for loss of power when driving, intermittent stalling, rough idling and the inability to start the engine.
Difficulty:Moderately Easy
Instructions Things You'll Need
Jack
Jack stands

Step by Step :
1
Lift the rear of the Rodeo using the jack supplied with the vehicle. Place jack stands under the frame on both sides, and lower the Rodeo onto the stands.
2
Remove the bolts that secure the gas tank fill tube to the vehicle using a socket and ratchet. The bolts are visible by opening the door used to cover the gas cap.
3
Place a jack under the gas tank and apply enough pressure to the bottom of the tank to hold it in place.
4
Remove the band straps that secure the tank to the underside of the Rodeo using a socket and ratchet.
5
Lower the jack and place the gas tank on the ground. If the tank is full, the use of a second person is helpful.
6
Remove the fuel pump cap from the top of the gas tank. Use a brass hammer and tap the metal tab that sticks up on the cap to turn it counterclockwise. The fuel pump is under the cap.

7. Wait at least 20 to 30 minutes until everything is bone dry; then sand the area with medium sandpaper until it conforms perfectly to the surrounding body surface. If you're working on a curved surface, like a fender, this sanding may take some skill. 8. When everything is smooth and even, prime the area and touch up the paint. You can use primer as a last layer of filler to fill tiny holes or irregularities. Apply several layers of primer, sanding each layer with a sanding block, until the area appears perfectly smooth. (To check, wet the primer and look at the way light reflects off the surface.) Priming and Painting 1081 Car Insurance pontiac montana 1999 232174

The techniques used to paint the body of a car can vary, depending on the size of the area you're working on and the original paint and finish. Many vehicles are painted with processes that require special primers, layers of dif ferent colors, metallic flake, and special clear coats after the color is laid on. Repainting such a vehicle can be difficult for professionals and absolutely dis astrous for a novice. Unless you have an experienced and steady hand (and the car's original paint has not faded or changed color since it was new), concealing that you repainted anything larger than a small area is almost impossible. Larger areas require spray-painting, which must be done in a well-ventilated area that's free from dust and dirt. A good spray gun can cost a lot — not to mention the air compressor used to power the gun — and a spray gun can wreak havoc if it runs amok in inexperienced hands. So if the area you need to paint is large, it will probably cost you less in time, money, and effort to have the job done by a professional who can match the paint and do the job right. .Chapter 24: Getting Rid of Dings, Dents, and Other Hard Knocks Never attempt to do a major paint job on a good car without trying your hand on an old wreck first. If you fail to prepare and prime the surface properly, the new paint will peel, blister, or flake away before long. If you practice on a junker, you can afford to make mistakes — because even a bad paint job can increase the resale value of a car that's practically worthless to begin with. If you want a cheap but decent job that will last a year or so, find out where local car dealers take the used cars they get as trade-ins to have them spiffed up before resale. To save money, you can remove any rust, spot-fill and paint the small areas yourself, and then have the rest of the job done professionally. Of course, if even a cheapo job is beyond your budget, doing your best with a can of spray paint is certainly better than simply letting a vehicle rust away.

On the other hand, touching up a small spot with a little bottle of touch-up paint is easy. Before you start the job, mask the surrounding area well and use even, sweeping strokes to apply the paint. (Follow the directions on the can carefully.) Practice on a piece of scrap metal before you tackle the car, and don't expect the results to look terrific. 1. To find the right paint color you need, look on the firewall of your car — you should see a little plate with the body number and paint code number on it. If you can't find the paint code number, consult your owner's manual or ask your mechanic or car dealer to point it out to you. 2. Buy a little bottle of touch-up paint that matches the code number at the parts department of a dealership representing the auto-maker that produced your vehicle. If that's not possible, try a professional auto paint supply house. They're also often good sources of semiprofessional advice. If neither source is available, your local auto supply store should have a chart that indicates the proper paint to match your car's make, model, and year. These little bottles of paint usually come with a brush or applicator in them. You also need a small bottle of primer, unless the paint specifies that it doesn't require it. 3. Make sure that the area is rust-free. If the damage is only a deep scratch or a tiny spot, you may need just a dab of rust arrestor to stop the rust from continuing to form under the new paint. If the area is any larger, you must remove all the rust carefully, following the directions in the earlier section called "Dealing with any rust you find." 4. Sand the spot carefully with a tiny bit of #220 sandpaper to rough up the surface so that the primer adheres properly. Work in teeny dabs, feathering the edges and working inward from the surrounding area to avoid enlarging the spot.

500 Part V: He| ing Your Car Look lts Best p 5. Wash the area thoroughly to remove any rust arrester, dust, dirt, filler residue, and wax; then let the area dry completely before you go any further. Primer is used to seal the surface of the metal against rust (caused by air and moisture) and to provide a surface for the paint to adhere to. Primer also fills in tiny holes and imperfections in the surface. The paint then protects the primer from the sun, dust, and heavy weather. And, as you know, wax protects the paint. If you're dealing with a surface scratch or a chip that hasn't gone down to the bare metal, you can probably get away with simply applying the paint. But never apply paint to bare metal. If any metal is exposed, or if the spot is larger than a fraction of an inch, prime the area first. 6. Use a tiny brush or a matchstick to apply the primer sparingly. You shouldn't need more than a drop to cover the damaged area. Avoid getting primer on the original paint. If you do, wipe it off immediately. Let the primer dry thoroughly before going on with the job. If you used glazing putty to fill the dent, you can probably paint right on top of it without priming first. 7. Mix the paint in the bottle thoroughly to blend the color pigments properly. Unless your car is very new, the color probably won't match exactly (which is another reason for keeping the area as small as possible). The paint on new cars doesn't fade as quickly or badly as old paints did.
